How did you find your way into the oil industry?
To prove to people I could. I got told my whole adult life that offshore / the oil field was no place for a woman. And my goal every day is to prove them wrong and do it anyway. I want to show women there is a place for us in every industry.
What’s it like being a woman in a male-dominated industry
It definitely has its challenges. It’s a little isolating being 1 of 3 women on a drillship full of 200 men. You gotta have some THICK skin and a STRONG personality. At times it’s harder to be respected and harder to be heard – but I’m extremely blessed to work with incredible hard working men that hear me and value my work.
How do you take your coffee?
Black, the darker the better. I want that coffee to HIT.
What does hard work mean to you?
Hard work means sucking it up, dealing with the BS and taking initiative to get s*** done.
What’s the best part and worst part of your job?
Best Part: The off time (can i say that?). No but seriously, the oil field is where science meets blue collar work. This is one of the only industries where I can wear Carhartt overalls everyday while I pump out engineering calculations. I get the best of both worlds.
Worst Part: Clocking out of “the real world” and being away from family and friends for half the year.

Why become an ambassador alongside Backbone Coffee CO?
I’m a sucker for some blue collar boys with a dream. I love the way Backbone Coffee Co. represents and advocates for the working class. It’s easy for people to overlook the sacrifices that tons of Americans make each and every day to not only provide for their families but also for our country. And not to mention the coffee is bad a** too.
What’S your fave backbone blend?
Graveyard Shift.
